Advertising & Promotion Terms
Last updated: 28 June 2026 · Governing law: New Zealand
These terms apply when you buy a paid product on Metal TV: a song promotion or an advertisement (banner or tile), or song-request credits. They are in addition to our Terms of Service. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details.
What you are buying
- Song promotion – a song you select is guaranteed to air at least once every 24 hours for the number of days purchased (NZ$1 per day, 1 to 15 days).
- Advertisement – a banner (NZ$20/week) or tile (NZ$15/week) shown on the site for the number of weeks purchased (1 to 8 weeks).
- Song-request credits – a prepaid balance used to request songs (1 credit = 1 request). Packs are NZ$5 for 5, NZ$15 for 20, NZ$30 for 50 and NZ$50 for 100 credits. A request plays the chosen song once, as soon as the schedule allows.
We sell time and placement, not a guaranteed number of plays beyond the 24-hour song guarantee, nor a guaranteed number of impressions, clicks or results.
Approval & content standards
Advertisements are reviewed before they display and may be rejected at our discretion. Promotion and ad content must be lawful, truthful, and must not be deceptive, adult/explicit, hateful, infringing, or promote illegal goods or services. You confirm you own or are licensed to use all content you submit (images, text, links, and the promoted music). We may remove or pause a promotion or ad that breaches these terms or our Community Guidelines.
Pricing & payment
Prices are shown at checkout in New Zealand dollars and charged up front. A song promotion activates as soon as payment clears. An advertisement is charged at purchase and goes live once approved.
Song-request credits
- 1 credit buys 1 song request. New members receive 2 free credits once their email is confirmed; free credits are promotional and may change or end at any time.
- Credits are a prepaid balance, not money: they have no cash value, are non-transferable, and are not exchangeable for cash except where the law requires.
- Credits expire 12 months after they are granted or purchased.
- If a requested song cannot be aired (for example its video becomes unavailable before it plays), that credit is returned to your balance automatically.
Refunds
- Rejected ads – if we do not approve your advertisement, it does not run and you are refunded in full. Refunds are issued to your original payment method and can take a few days to appear.
- Song promotions – these activate immediately and run as described, so they are non-refundable once active.
- Credits – purchased credits are non-refundable once added to your balance, except where the law requires. Unused credits expire after 12 months.
- If we remove a paid item because it breaches these terms, no refund is due for the remaining time.
- Nothing here limits any non-excludable rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act or Fair Trading Act. If we fail to provide a paid service, contact us and we will put it right.
Artist fund
- The artist fund is a voluntary, discretionary programme, not a contractual entitlement. Each month we allocate half of our net advertising revenue (our gross advertising receipts less payment processing fees) and split it equally across every approved video from licensed bands in rotation.
- Whether a video earns is decided by us per video and is separate from whether it airs. We may change, pause or end the fund, or its formula, going forward with reasonable notice.
- Fund balances are paid to bands by manual bank transfer once a balance reaches the minimum we set, or may be spent on promotions. A balance is forfeited if the band is deleted. See the artist fund page for the current formula.
Availability
We aim to run your promotion or ad as scheduled but do not guarantee uninterrupted display; brief outages or technical issues may occur. We may make minor placement or rendering changes.
