Add bands & videos

Metal TV plays videos that bands and labels upload themselves, with the rights confirmed on every upload. You need a free account with a confirmed email, and everything starts from the red Upload button in the header.

Add your band

Press Upload (or go to My Account → Bands → Add Band). Give the band a name, confirm you are authorised to represent it, and you get its profile page in edit mode, with everything saving as you go (no page reloads):

  • Band photo, logo, and per-release cover art (or let a video's poster frame stand in).
  • Bio, country, formed year, label and links.
  • Genres: pick up to 4 (they decide which channels the band plays on) plus up to 2 style tags.
  • The discography: releases, tracks and a video upload button on every track.

A new band goes live as soon as you create it (a name and a photo is all it takes). Build the page up over time; its videos air once they are approved. You can edit or delete the band any time.

Upload videos

Upload from the header button (it creates the release and track for you: pick the band, title the song, choose the release type, drop the file in) or from the upload icon on any track in your band editor. The rules, in short (the full content standards):

  • Produced music videos for studio recordings; no live footage or lyric videos.
  • Under 11 minutes, up to 2 GB, any common video format.
  • AI-assisted visuals are fine; the music must not be generative AI.
  • You confirm you control the rights and accept the Upload Licence with each upload.

Every upload is converted for broadcast automatically (720p, loudness-normalised), then reviewed by a person before it airs. The track shows a Video processing badge while it converts, then Pending review, then In rotation once it is approved; we email you when it is live. We may decline anything that breaks the content standards. If your videos live on YouTube, YouTube Studio lets you download your own uploads.

Your media library and bulk upload

Every video you upload also lands in your media library: your own pool of videos, kept separate from any song. From there you can rename a video (a reference name for your own housekeeping, never shown to viewers), preview it, assign it to a song, or flag it for delete. This lets a label or a busy band upload a batch first and sort out which song each video belongs to later.

  • One video per song. Assigning a video to a song replaces whatever was on it; the previous one returns to your library rather than being deleted.
  • Assign from either end. In the band editor, open a track and search your library to pick a video; or on the media library click a video and choose the song to put it on.
  • Bulk upload. Use Bulk upload (beside the Upload button) to add many videos at once. They transfer one after another (our encoder converts them one at a time), land unassigned in your library, and you assign each to a song afterwards.

However they arrive, videos are still converted and reviewed before they air, and only play once you have assigned them to a song on a published band.

Managers: run the band together

The member who creates a band manages it. Managers can add bandmates (or label people) by the email on their Metal TV account, from the Managers card in the band editor; everyone added has full edit and upload rights. If your band is already on Metal TV and nobody manages it yet, contact us: we verify you and hand the page over.

A band's videos are scheduled on the channel once they finish processing and are approved. They can also be requested and promoted, and requests paid with purchased credits earn the band royalties.
